For this photo series I took inspiration from the famous photographer Roger Ballen, who is known for his publications like: Asylum of the Birds, Outland, Shadow Chamber, Boarding House and many more.
I was dedicated to capture, process and then express the haunting effects that Ballen had on me.
The feeling of being trapped in a nightmare. The feeling of no escape. The pictures in one´s imagination may differ from person to person but the fear, in its core stays the same.
Being alone in this world. To vanish from it without anyone taking notice. Losing the person you hold dearest. These are only two examples of fear I channeled into my work.
It's the desperation of holding onto the past that keeps us trapped in the presence.
